Wednesday 17th August

Waiting for some takeaway at Faheem Fast Food, the bestest (and only) Pakistani food in all of Enmore Road. Waiting for takeaway is a bit of a recurring theme this week. It’s been one of those weeks..

The camera is sitting on a table inside the restaurant, with a table outside in the foreground. Confusing. The shot was about a 2 second exposure. It was absolutely a throwaway shot, one of those one’s you take when your mind is on something else, but I was hoping to see more of the car trails shooting through the frame. Not to worry. I’ve definitely got to get myself a portable, lightweight tripod. It just opens so many options up.

VERDICT: Ordinary

Tuesday 16th August

I’ve been posting a run of too many bad photos in a row and it has to end! (Just not today.)

This is my lovely Enmore Road, shimmering as it does with the anticipation of adventure the night will bring. There was a great full moon sitting directly over the street. I scouted around trying to find a better angle while waiting for some pide, whereupon the moon promptly snuck behind a cloud and stayed there.

VERDICT: Interesting, but would benefit from a more considered approach

Monday 15th August

Hooray! It’s another multi-image post! Where I take three very ordinary photos and turn them into a larger ordinary collage! The burst water pipe on the left and right was pretty cool though..

VERDICT: Bad

Sunday 14th August

I didn’t do much shooting today. This is one of the three shots I took. It’s (lack of) quality is some indication as to how the other two turned out.

VERDICT: Bad

Saturday 13th August

Another quick grab, just off Enmore Road. I wish I could read tags better so I could at least give due credit. This piece is by an artist who goes by the handle ‘Slug’. You can find more of their work here.

It’s a funny thing, the relationship between mood and hobbies (photography in this case). I’ve been feeling pretty blue and unmotivated the last few days. Like really. Work is dull and repetitive at the moment, and I’ve got some life changing decisions to make in terms of what I do for a living and where I do it that just seem too hard right now. It all makes picking up the camera and taking photos seem so much less appealing. Which is ironic because I find taking photos an energising experience. Observing and interpreting are activities good for the soul. I guess that’s almost a catch 22.. but not quite.

VERDICT: Meh

Friday 12th August

Just a quick grab on the way home via the train station. Centerpoint Tower didn’t use to have that great big whopping ‘Westfield’ emblazened over it but I guess its just another indicator in this great city of ours of the triumph of crass advertising over a less visually cluttered CBD experience. Perish the thought.

VERDICT: Average

Thursday 11th August

I’m feeling a bit basic today, hence the sub-par shot. The lens was in auto focus and I was rushing past and didn’t notice I missed the bikes. I think my heavy vingetting is way too dominant as well. There’s some promise in the scene so I think I’ll revisit it for another try – perhaps with a tripod next time – but this shot was just too careless.
